Frequently asked questions

What is lymphatic drainage massage?
A gentle massage technique that uses light, slow, rhythmic strokes to help your lymphatic system move excess fluid out of your tissues and back toward your lymph nodes.
Does lymphatic massage hurt?
No. The pressure is very light. Post-op areas may feel tender, and Donna always adjusts to your comfort.
What should I wear?
Whatever is comfortable. You'll undress to your comfort level and be properly draped throughout. Post-op clients should bring their compression garment.
How should I prepare?
Drink water during the day, eat lightly beforehand, and arrive a few minutes early. Post-op clients should bring their surgeon's instructions.
What should I do afterwards?
Keep hydrating, take a gentle walk if you can, and go easy on salt and alcohol for the rest of the day. Put your compression garment back on if you wear one.
How often should I come?
After surgery, often several sessions over the first few weeks. For wellness or puffiness, every two to four weeks is popular. Donna will recommend what fits you.
How soon after surgery can I start?
Many surgeons clear patients within a few days to a week, but always follow your surgeon's guidance.
Can lymphatic massage help with weight loss?
It doesn't burn fat. It can reduce water retention and bloating, so many people feel lighter and less puffy.
Who should avoid lymphatic massage?
Anyone with an active infection or fever, a blood clot, congestive heart failure, serious kidney problems or active cancer should speak with their doctor first.
Where are you located?
Glendale (6002 N Port Washington Rd, Glendale, WI 53217) and Waukesha (N4W22370 Bluemound Rd, Suite 100, Waukesha, WI 53186), inside Illume Cosmetic Surgery & MedSpa. Donna currently books through Illume, so you book with her directly on Illume's site.
